When Is The Best Time To Prepare Your Soil?
There are often conflicting reports of when the best time is to prepare your soil. If you’re hoping for a good growing season then March is historically the best time to prepare your soil, because the colder weather has subsided and flowers are starting to bloom, with the warmth of the summer just around the corner. The problem is, UK winters seem to be lingering a lot longer these days which often means soil preparation is deferred until April or May, but the general advice is to stick with March, providing the harsh winter has subsided some weeks before then.
It is important that you wait until the warmer weather before preparing your soil because the cold can so easily damage things. The soil needs time to ‘bed in’ and the environment needs to be dry.
