Rolawn support Fox Hollies School & Performing Arts CollegeRolawn, Britain’s largest turf grower and leading supplier of safe, quality topsoil has donated their Vegetable & Fruit Topsoil to Fox Hollies School and Performing Arts College for their garden.

The official opening of Kings Heath Floral Trail by Alys Fowler, BBC Gardeners’ World presenter, took place recently in the garden at Fox Hollies School which has been designed by Winterbourne Botanic Garden and has a fruit and veg focus.

Paul Roberts, Headteacher at Fox Hollies commented “Thanks to the generosity of Rolawn we have been able to fill our raised vegetable beds. This has created a wonderful opportunity for all pupils to take part in growing their own fruit and vegetables whilst learning about how food is produced. Older students are also able to take an accredited Horticulture qualification which is a very popular subject.”

Fox Hollies is a local authority maintained special school for pupils between the ages of 11 and 19. Eight small classes offer each student a personalised curriculum defined by themselves, their parents/carers and staff. Fox Hollies School specialises in the Performing Arts, this means that all students will at some point take part in a performance, as a musician, an actor, or a dancer and for those for who are not as fond of the stage, there are plenty of roles behind the scenes, prop making, set dressing etc. This encourages and develops confidence, team work and a sense of creativity and involvement.
